My March Favourites (and Least Favourites!)

April is upon us!  Happy April Fool's Day!  I don't go in for all that tricking people nonsense so I have no funny stories to tell - what about you?!

As those of you who follow me on Twitter may have seen yesterday, my little (22 year old lol) brother got offered a job for his placement year yesterday - it was the first firm he'd applied for and the first proper interview he'd ever done!! Unreal.  He gets free private healthcare and gym membership too!  That boy can land on his feet I tell ye. He is a brainy wee bugger though, studying Computer Science.  He's assisting me in picking out a new laptop as I am hopeless!  He is also really into music; he plays bass and is currently into techo/house music and DJ-ing - you can hear a track he made  if that's your kinda thing :)

I am going to make a regular feature of my "monthly favourites" - I know that so many bloggers do this, however I always enjoy reading/watching different ones, as everyone has a varied selection of products and I always see something I would like to try, or will remember to avoid!  All these products were bought by myself, or received as gifts, and the following opinions are entirely my own.  If you're feeling too lazy to read, go to the bottom of this post and watch my youtube video :)

Favourites:

Soap & Glory - The Righteous Butter
I don't know if I can actually rave about this stuff enough!  I got it as part of a gift set from my Uncle & Aunt and it is probably one of my favourite products from the set.  It is a thick, creamy body butter.  It is great for dry patches and I use this almost every day, even if it's just on my elbows or knees; places which tend to get very dry.  It smells amazing and I love the texture.  It absorbs in to the skin without leaving an greasy feeling or residue.  As someone who gets very dry skin this is a brilliant product to have and is one I will definitely get again.

Clinique Take The Day Off Make Up Remover
I got the Cinique makeup remover for eyes and lips free with Glamour Magazine this month.  I really didn't know which product to go for so just took this one.  I am really glad that I did.  This takes my eye makeup off soo easily with minimal scrubbing and without irritating my skin or eyes!  I used to use Vaseline to remove heavy eye makeup but this had removed the need for Vaseline completely.  Be warned though, it's very oily and greasy, and you have to shake it up before using it otherwise (as I discovered) you get lovely greasy eyelids! Sexy, eh?

Boots Essentials Cucumber 3 Minute Clay Mask
This is such a bargain product - £2.03 on the Boots website at the minute!  This is a lovely thick, creamy consistency.  You spread it on your face and leave to dry (I leave it for 5 minutes, not 3).  I find that it doesn't dry completely, but I like this as it doesn't go completely rock solid and tight on your skin.  Then just rinse it off with warm water.  My skin feels soft and refreshed after using this and it doesn't irritate my skin or make it flare up, which is always a worry with me!  I use this once a week usually (twice at the minute because of awful outbreak) and there is still so much left in the tube.  I think it will last a long time - yay!

Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser
This has been my favourite moisturiser for aaaaages now!  It is really hydrating without leaving my skin feeling clogged or greasy.  It doesn't cause excess oil on my face (so I know that this product definitely isn't to blame for the current state of affairs!) and yet is so good on dry patches.  This little bottle (50ml) is £1.52, the bigger size is £3.26, so it is still affordable if you're on a budget, and lasts a long time.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
I did a whole review on this product previously, which you can read here.  It is still my favourite foundation at the minute.  It gives light-medium coverage, and is a good match for even my palest of the pale skin!  It gives the skin a lovely healthy sheen, and at £9.99 is a total steal.  I can't even remember the last time I used my MAC Studio Fix Fluid since I bought this - wow!

S-he Stylezone Eyeshadow Trio
I got this from Joanna Louise as part of her giveaway win :) This was one of the little extras that she very kindly included, and I love this so much!  I don't think this brand is available in the UK, which is a shame, as this little eyeshadow trio is so handy that I would definitely buy another. This is a great little item that I have in my makeup bag everyday now and the colours are lovely and natural too.  Thanks, Joanna Louise! :)

NARS Satin Finish Lipstick in "Honolulu Honey"
I bought this NARS lipstick with my "£9 for £20" ASOS Groupon voucher.  At £17.50 I would never noramlly consider buying a lipstick that price!  However I am very glad that I used my groupon for it as I really like this lipstick.  The only thing I don't like is that, when looking at the lipsticks on the ASOS website, it was so hard to tell what the colours would be like in real life.  The written description calls this a "flesh toned biege" - however to me this really is more of a peachy colour, and not quite the nude tone I was hoping for.  However, that said, I do really like the colour and I am very glad that I got it.

BarryM Nail Paints
Oopsie, forgot to take a photo of mine!  I basically am loving all the BarryM nail paints in general!  At £2.99 they are very affordable and they have a huge selection of colours to choose from!  They aren't to runny or streaky in consistency and are usually opaque in 2 coats.  They are also very good for nail art because of the consistency.  I used to treat myself to 1 a week on payday, which I am definitely missing during my spending ban!  However I know that they'll still be in the shops after my ban so I can count the days!

Least Favourites:
Simple Oil Balancing Exfoliating Wash
This product was such a disappointment for me.  I needed a new face wash and so bought this because, as I am a fan of other Simple products, I thought it was a sure thing to be good... as it turns out, there is no such thing as a "sure thing"! It was £4.28, which isn't expensive, but for a product that I don't really like, it's annoying that I spent that!  I think this wash has done nothing for my skin, basically, and has possiby made it oilier than it was before!  Judging by my current breakout of spots, it does not do what it claims.  When my spending ban is over, I will definitely try out another face wash and this will be gone!

*N.B.:  When I first purchased this product I thought that it wasn't too great, however while I do feel that it made my skin oilier, I don't think it is to blame for my current breakout.  I recently started using a new cleasnsing lotion, whereas before I used face wipes, and I think that the cleanser may be my spot-trigger.  This wash, however, has not done any damage in eliminating said spots, which also makes it not great in my eyes!)

Natural Collection Eye Liner Pencil in Black

The Natural Collection is good for a few cheap essentials - £1.99 each or 3 for £5.  I used to wear lots of eyeliner, however I have stopped using it so much in recent years.  I hadn't had an eyeliner pencil in months so I bought this to fill the void.  I certainly wouldn't buy it again.  It is too soft and has no staying power, it just smudges and melts off the eyelid and waterline, leaving you with panda eyes that you're unaware of until you look in a mirror!  I will spend a few quid more in future for something a bit more long lasting!

I hope you enjoyed my monthly products roundup, and I hope that you all have a great April Fools Day, and a great month!

You can watch my youtube video of the Monthly Favourites too!

I find these posts really interesting, and good that you have products which you like ;) I have such a non-routine when it comes to my skin, no wonder it's a total mess at the moment!
